When, in 2075, David Gill, an engineer, arrives in Los Angeles, he discovers his associates have committed him and his American "business partner", Robbie Newall, to the first colonization of Mars. On Mars, his wife abandons him for Newall, then he discovers that Newall is engaged in a massive fraud, and has the only guns on Mars, with men to use them. David must stop him, with only the nature of Mars to help. Hard SF with accurate science about the nature of Mars.
