Three girls murdered near Melancholy in 1880s Idaho territory bear injuries reminiscent of Indian sacrifice. When bordello madam Hennessey Reed, blighted by addictions,recognizes one of the girls, she decides U.S. Marshal Rafael Cooper needs her help to search for the killer.So, with her Bowie strapped to her calf and wolfhound Raven by her side Hennessey sets out to investigate-a one-woman stampede.
