Mildred "Dred" Dixon's marching orders used to come straight from the Flamehearts -- protect the hidden world and humans at all costs, meaning: killing baddies was how it was done. And she was murderously good at it. But now? The gods are meddling. And when the gods meddle, the best thing to do is ignore them. They always make everything worse. Still, they have a minor request which Dred does her best to follow. But now? Supernaturals are disappearing. As the complications multiply, she’s torn between following her instincts and obeying the gods. Can she do it all without pissing the gods off, risking her partner's life, or losing another innocent supernatural to the malevolent forces stirring on her watch?
