Bound Tongue

Angela Dawson was a caregiver, but that did not necessarily mean she was somebody who cared. Oftentimes, she didn’t care. She turned up, worked, changed beds, wiped asses, and left, money in her pocket, desperate to be somewhere else. She was, by no stretch of the imagination, no matter how herculean, a hero. She was just a woman, twenty-six-years-old, who liked to read and had fallen into a profession. This was how she thought of herself before she came to Grant’s Hill, a lonely, jutting finger of rock that overlooked some obscure town in Alaska, where snow swirled and wind whipped. That changed, though, when she saw the woman. The locals call it Ghoul Hill: a lonely finger or rock overlooking a remote place in Alaska. When Angela arrives here, Ms Walters is living in her own feces, and the other workers won’t tell her why. She helps her, but soon after she receives a letter, warning her to stay away. When she ignores this, her voice starts to fail her. Now, she must move into a world of mysticism and magic, of blood and guts, to reclaim her voice, and her tongue, before it's too late. This story is not for the faint-of-heart.
