The Privateersman

Early in The American Revolutionary War, young Tom Andrews has to escape from England or face the hangman’s noose. He’s shanghaied onto a privateering ship. The privateer sails the Caribbean and enjoys success before Tom and fellow crewman, Joseph, flee to New York carrying a large amount of illicit booty. In New York they are betrayed and are forced to return to England. As unscrupulous businessmen during the early days of the industrial revolution, they quickly become rich. Tom buys a landed estate and finds himself attracted to Lady Verity, the feisty daughter of an impoverished local aristocrat.
